More about England

Top destinations to visit in England

All of the United Kingdom is diverse, but when it comes to England, everything is multiplied by a hundred. On one side, you have Dorset Coast and its beautiful coves, and on the other side, you are treated by hamlets that are as gorgeous and vast to hold years of history.

While every district and street of England oozes out historic character, there are a few places that you must see.

1.   Lake District

The latest inclusion into the UNESCO list, the Lake District is home to fog clad, serene lakes, and rolling hills that overlook tiny villages. This place caters to the natural tendencies of humanity, where everyone wants to have his share of tranquility.

Head over to Ullswater Lake and Windermere Lake. Hike, take steams and enjoy paddleboarding.

2.   Cotswolds

Cotswolds is situated about 2 hours away from London (more about London). If you want to see how English lived in the past, you should take a look at the snug little hamlets laying in rows after rows. They are surrounded by awe-inspiring natural beauty.

Do not forget to see Arlington Row and taste the local cuisine.

3.   Cambridge

You can travel back and forth in Cambridge because it is a small city. It is as old as England and possibly one of the oldest cities. Go over to St. Mary’s church to see the beauty of Gothic architecture. Then climb on its roof to take in the modern city radiating from it.

Another notable site to visit in this city is Kings College with its intricate chapel. Once you’re done with that, go to Fitzbillies to taste a signature English breakfast and then punt down the River Cam.

4.   Bristol

Bristol is famous for its artisans. So, explore the work of Banksy throughout the city. You’d find his murals and street art spread across multitudes and get inspiration from them at the same time.

Other spots to visit in the city are Wapping Wharf and its boutique restaurants, Spike Island and its art troves, and the most visited, Clifton Suspension Bridge.
