More about France

Top destinations to visit in France

Romantic, welcoming, and diverse, France is the crown jewel of Europe. Paris and Versailles are a hallmark for romance, its castles and palaces welcome everyone, and its landscape is diverse with French Alps lining on one side and sites like Alsace on the other.

If you wish to see France’s true nature, visit these 4 destinations.

1.   Paris

Paris is the postcard image of France. With its world-class museums such as the Louvre, gothic cathedrals like Notre-dame, and amusing architectural masterpieces like the Eiffel Tower, it holds a keen place in the world of tourism.

Even it is the gateway to some of the exquisite excursions. After you’re done with the main city, you can take a day off and visit the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Château de Versailles in the nearby Versailles.

2.   Provence

Away from the polluted air of the major cities, the countryside of Provence gives the true flavor of a more primitive Paris (visit Paris itineraries)ian life. Everywhere you turn your head here, you’d see hills covered with patches of fields of lavender and sunflowers.

Join other visitors in exploring the local cuisines and watching the sunset from the hilltops of the village.

3.   Normandy

Normandy is famous for apple orchards and a lot of countryside flavors, but the number one destination here is the Mont Saint-Michel. It is an Abbey revered by many savvy architects and hailed by UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites. Post-construction, the church held a key place in the hearts of pilgrims and it still receives a staggering number of visitors.

4.   Reims

One of the Cities of Art and History, the Reims is home to Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims. It is here that French kings were crowned and baptized. And it is this place that gives us a thorough insight into the high gothic architecture of that time.

Besides the cathedral, you can also visit Palais du Tau and Basilique Saint-Remi.
